André Arbus pair of ash wood neoclassical armchairs 1940s
These elegant André Arbus armchairs are sure to add an element of French neoclassicism chic to any room in your home. They were designed and produced by André Arbus for the headquarters of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique in the late 1940s. With shapely solid ash wood frames, tapered legs, slightly sabre at the back, with brass sabots at the front, these armchairs are wonderful examples of the French neoclassicism of André Arbus. They have been fully restored, wood revarnished, and reupholstered with white linen fabric by Pierre Frey, Menerbes reference. Similar armchairs were sold by Tajan Paris on March 6th 2015. A similar pair also available in grey alcantara fabric, along with a coffee table for a full living room set by André Arbus.
Reference : Andre Arbus: Architecte-Decorateur Des Annees 40, Brunhammer, ppg. 238 illustrates a similar example.
