This beautiful pair of Cognac armchairs was designed in 1967 by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio and produced by Asko. Inspired by the shape of a cognac glass, this model perfectly embodies the experimental spirit of the late 1960s. First presented at the Cologne Furniture Fair, the armchair reflects Aarnio’s desire to free form from unnecessary constraints in favor of a fluid and sculptural gesture. Entirely crafted in fiberglass, the armchairs emphasize their sculptural aspect while offering full swivel functionality. The seats provide excellent comfort, enhanced by an interior upholstery in warm alpaca velvet from Dedar, bringing softness, warmth and refinement to the piece. Fully restored and newly reupholstered, this pair is found in excellent condition and ready for use.

Eero Aarnio is a Finnish designer and a leading figure of futuristic design in the second half of the 20th century. Trained at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki, he began his career in the 1950s before founding his own studio in 1962. A pioneer in the use of fibreglass, molded plastic and monobloc structures. Aarnio created iconic pieces such as the Ball Chair, the Bubble Chair and the Cognac Chair, which have become emblematic of 1960s pop culture and Space Age aesthetics. Through its international recognition, his work helped redefine the aesthetic and structural principles of modern design.
