Large pair of French 19th Century gilt faux bamboo upholstery mirrors
This elegant pair of French 19th Century gilt mirrors date from the Napoléo III era, circa 1870. Surrounding each tall rectangular mirror plate is a detailed giltwood faux bamboo frame with beautiful decors and patina , mounted on solid oak structure. Its neoclassical style comes from the chinoiserie and japonisme, influences that came into fashion in the mid-19th century. The mirror frame has been reupholstered with a silk fabric from Métaphores, with chimerical botanical motifs, highly detailed and wonderfully precise, with its associations of flowers, leaves and branches. The mirrors have all been replaced, as one of them was missing when purchasing the pieces. They both have been fully restored, with some new gilt parts. An extensive restoration file with photos is available upon request. The pair of ottomans from Maison Jansen, presented on some pictures, and reupholstered with the same fabric, are also for sale, and available.
