Cool deep colors, asymmetry, and a fanciful design make this 1990’s coffee table a statement piece, especially for those that believe passionate expressions of creativity go hand-in-hand with interior design. Elizabeth Garouste & Mattia Bonetti were a team of designers, based in Paris, who brought extraordinarily imaginative designs into the mainstream. Their work, like this table, reflects their idea that furniture design should have no rules in terms of form, and therefore it feels blissfully free while being functional inside contemporary spaces. This table’s deep blue resin feet are shaped into sturdy tapering columns and decorated with quirky spheres and three-dimensional squiggles. The surface is a thick glass slab, formed into gentle curves in an atypical shape. The piece is emblematic of the design duo’s commitment to avant-garde, romantic style, and is highly decorative. The table is signed and is in very good vintage condition. The glass top sits at 40 centimeters - 15.75 inches, and the 3 feet are screwed, very easy to dismantle and reassemble, and cheaper to ship.

Garouste & Bonetti duo were celebrated for inventing a new Baroque and barbarian romanticism. They became recognised as international players in the art and design market from the early 1980s to the late 1990s.  Their furniture is inventive, unconventional, subtle, constituted by heteroclite and unusual materials, in reference to the Middle Ages and Africa, revisiting the Venetian baroque and the neo-classicism.  As they once stated about their work : ‘Our hope is to give people the feeling of freedom in the choice of forms.  Good taste really bothers us a lot.  What we care about is implanting doubt.  We don’t have any rules.’
