Moucharabieh sideboard by Garouste & Bonetti for Christian Lacroix 1987
Very rare off white satin and black wood sideboard by Elizabeth Garouste & Mattia Bonetti designed for Christian Lacroix boutique opening rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré in 1987. The iconic duo were hired by Christian Lacroix to create the complete bespoke interior of the Maison de couture boutique, with black, off white, coral, bronze, wrought iron, and Moucharabieh decors and panels. This same Moucharabieh decor is decorating the two doors of this sideboard. It also two large drawers on the side, four drawers in the middle, all with bronze and resin handles embodying Christian Lacroix style. Two lights are installed behind the doors, to enlight the Moucharabieh panels. This sideboard is clearly a statement piece, especially for those that believe passionate expressions of creativity and fashion go hand-in-hand with interior design. It is emblematic of Garouste & Bonetti commitment to avant-garde, romantic style, and this collaboration with Christian Lacroix was clearly one of their best baroque design. The sideboard has been fully restored, and is in an exceptional condition.
