Pair of French Neoclassical gilt stools brown velvet 1940s
Pair of gilt wood stools made by a French decorator in the mid-1940s. The gently curved seats are framed by two scrolling ends, reminiscent of the armrests found on antique curule seating. They are reupholstered in deep brown velvet, creating a rich contrast with the brilliance of the gilt wood. The straight legs rest on rectangular bases adorned with scrolling details, recalling the distinctive decorative vocabulary of Serge Roche and Marcel Coard. The composition achieves a refined balance between classical references and decorative sophistication, offering an elegant interpretation of Neoclassical furniture. Fully restored in our workshop and presented in very good overall condition.
