Pair of stools Garouste & Bonetti ‘Koala’ bronze teddy mohair velvet 1995
This is a beautiful pair of stools by Elizabeth Garouste & Mattia Bonetti, model Koala, with solid bronze feet, fully restored and reupholstered. Garouste & Bonetti began their collaboration and gained global recognition for their interior design of the Paris nightclub Le Palace in 1979. This model of Koala stool was designed by the duo in 1995, and edited by BGH Edition. Each foot is stamped B.G. They have been fully restored, and newly upholstered using French Pierre Frey Teddy light brown mohai velvet, which is incredibly soft with its long mohair, suiting these stools perfectly. This is an opportunity to purchase a part of modern design history, these pieces being iconic ones from Elizabeth Garouste & Mattia Bonetti.

Garouste & Bonetti duo were celebrated for inventing a new Baroque and barbarian romanticism. They became recognised as international players in the art and design market from the early 1980s to the late 1990s. Their furniture is inventive, unconventional, subtle, constituted by heteroclite and unusual materials, in reference to the Middle Ages and Africa, revisiting the Venetian baroque and the neo-classicism. As they once stated about their work : ‘Our hope is to give people the feeling of freedom in the choice of forms. Good taste really bothers us a lot. What we care about is implanting doubt. We don’t have any rules.’
