Rare neoclassical set of 4 armchairs signed By Maurice Hirsch 1970s
Every moment of the construction of this set of chairs was deeply cared about, and it shows in the finished product, even some six decades later. The set was designed and signed by French furniture designer Maurice Hirsch in the 1970’s and was inspired by the incredible woodwork of Italian furniture in the 19th century—with a French neoclassical twist. The beautiful painted oak wood structure has developed a stunning beige and golden patina over time, revealing the careful craftsmanship at every turn. The chair back and seat were newly upholstered in jacquard golden couture fabric from Italian DEDAR - Auriga reference to complement, rather than overpower, the oak legs and structure. Finding a set like this is an exciting, rare occurrence, and it feels impressively elegant. Every Armchair stamped M.Hirch and dated "Juillet 1973".
