Unique golden lacquer brass Maison Jansen sideboard commode 1970s.
Unique golden lacquer brass Maison Jansen sideboard commode 1970s.
An exciting example of French design firm Maison Jansen’s commissioned pieces. This large sideboard is made from solid oak, lacquered in a rich dark brown and bronze–golden finish. The resulting effect is a beautiful mottling of color around the entire front and height drawers of the piece. Bright brass in the feet and frame and accents highlight the warmer, lighter colors of the lacquer. The top and sides are covered with golden mirror plating. The care that went into the construction of every detail of the commode is clear—as each piece was made on order only for clients who could afford the top tier of Maison Jansen design. This piece was commissioned for the dressing room of a Saint-Raphaël mansion in the South of France. There were two large commodes in the dressing room, this one is the smallest one with 74.8 inches width, the second one, also available, being 112.2 inches.
