This is a unique and monumental Dutch Baroque cupboard called “Kussenkast" from the late 17th century, probably circa 1670 - 1680. Made of rosewood, ebony and ebonised wood veneered on solid oak. This elegant and rich cabinet-on-stand, typically for the second half of the 17th century, was designed in oak and enriched with carved ebony and veneers of rosewood and ebony. The façade decor, extremely geometric in arrangement, is executed in the strict architectural format typically for the Dutch furniture of the 17th century. Surmounted by a straight entablature, with characteristic frieze, architrave, and projecting cornice. The moulded corniche, above a plain frieze, set with three lion’s masks. The two doors with rectangular panels set with moulded corniches and scrolling foliage, flanked by half round pilasters with carved capitals. The sides also with rectangular panels with moulded corniches. The lower section with two drawers with the original wooden handles, seated on the three original ball feet. Inside with the original oak shelf. This monumental piece has been fully restored and refinished. Possible to add other patinated shelves if needed.
